Blurred

Image
Anybody who has known me well, cannot have missed this fact about me of how I love blurred pictures. Give me an album filled with pictures and that one picture which didn't make to the display because it was blurred would be my favourite. When you take a look at it, It's like that moment has arrived again It's also like its fading away too soon, Its not perfect where it holds all the details in clarity, but flaws are what makes something genuine, original, believable... It has you captured in your most vulnerable state, a face that you no longer get to see, an emotion you no longer can fake it keeps you hooked,  asking for just a little more,  but the closer you peek the more you cannot see that's the thing about blurred pictures - they are flawed to perfection.

A lonely life in a single room

A monologue of thoughts, Four walls of comfort. Oh! Thank heavens for at least the walls have ears, The room - a cave, The room - a stage. Personification - a skill learnt. What a strange lively relation with all the non-living artefacts, A floor that catches tears on some days, and on other days just waltzes along happy tunes. One delicate membrane of a door. One reality check.

Of an unsung war hero

Julley! I recently took a trip to Leh-Ladakh and this is how Ladakhi people greet one and all. Ladakh has 2 contrasting sides to it. One which showcases/flaunts a landscape so majestic and vast that you don’t feel like it can be a part of India. And with so many foreigners touring beside you, it is more natural for you to feel like you are on foreign land. However, the 2 nd and stronger side of Ladakh ensures you snap out of this delusion within seconds and that is the Indian Army. Throughout Leh and Ladakh, in fact, right from Manali you will find numerous Army quarters, camps, bunkers, convoys and Army personnel. Find men at Khardung La or Chang La not shivering in sub zero temperatures without even wearing one extra layer to keep themselves warm? Yes, that’s Indian Army for you - stationed at altitudes so high and terrains so difficult that you cannot even imagine it leave alone fathom it. Of all the places that I visited, Hall of Fame in Leh is one that had the most i

Red Wedding

The "Red Wedding" episode was one of the most crucial episodes of the Game Of Thrones series and a gory one at that. However, my topic of interest isn't that, yet, the Red Wedding I am going to talk about is equally gory and important. Today, 28th of May is being observed as Menstrual Hygiene Day. Initiated by WASH United in 2014, Menstrual Hygiene Day (MHD) builds awareness of the fundamental role that good menstrual hygiene management plays in helping women and girls reach their full potential. To begin with, let us first understand what menstruation is. Menstruation is a monthly shedding of a female's uteral lining; it lasts about 3 to 5 days (average) and contains blood and tissue that exits her body through the cervix and vagina. The average age for a girl to get her first period is between 12 and 15, but, given today's lifestyle, it has reduced to an age as young as 8. Why this day in particular? The menstruation cycle in an average case repeat

Bibliophilia

Image
Recently, it was "World Book Day" on the 23rd of April and I just wanted to share the benefits of having been a bibliophile (a lover of books) myself. Books are nothing but magic. No, really, think of it. If some words written on sheets of paper can make you immerse in it and transport you to a whole new world regardless of the surrounding you are reading, how short is it of magic? Now what are the so called benefits of books you may ask?  Books are a friend you can turn to when you feel lonely. Books provide you with imagination so bright and big that your life will never see a dull moment. Charlaine Harris opines that books are the cheapest vacation that one can buy while Anna Quindlen quotes that "Books are the plane, and the train, and the road. They are the destination, and the journey. They are home". Reading is synonymous with immense knowledge and this is one of the oldest and most established benefits of it. Reading provides mental stimulat

My Kind Lady

Kindness - The most essential quality the world is in need of today. It is kindness which allows you to empathize with someone, sympathize with few others and most importantly makes you love and as the saying goes " Make love not war" !! (well I may have replaced the word 'peace' with 'love' here:P) Now who really inspired me to write this post is my mother who is kindness personified. So below are few things that I have observed and learnt from her. 1) Keep a bird feeder in your garden. To have a home and a small beautiful garden in front of it where lots of birds come chirping is a very simple and lovely dream everyone can harbour. Keeping a bird feeder filled with grains ensures that the birds, squirrels, ants, cats have a guaranteed meal and also makes them keep visiting you and the chirps can surely uplift your mood if you are feeling low. 2) Offer water to street vendors. You often hear them patrolling the streets trying to market their produ
