Light a diya :)

Can you relate with me when I say "there are some things which you love and hate at the same time " ..?? [For more reference to what I'm trying to tell you can listen to "I hate you (like I love you) from Delhi Belly :p " ].
Now coming to the main point as to why i'm telling this , It's the colourful part of the year again and here comes Deepavali looking as grand and beautiful as it always is . But this is one festival which I like and dislike at the same time . Well I absolutely and obviously love it to the extent that it overshadows the few points for which I don't like it .. but like you never miss to observe a pimple even if its hiding in one corner of an otherwise beautiful face, you cannot ignore these few points.
Deepavali ,the festival of lights, fireworks, vibrancy, sweets, new clothes, new deals, delicacies,  smiles, laughter, happiness. It is the only time when 'flowerpots' are not just brown in colour ,the time when 'snakes' move around without biting anyone and in a few seconds destroy themselves ,the time when even an 8 yr kid flaunts his 'gun' and he needn't even register it !! :) ,it is that time when 'rockets' are launched successfully and atom bombs bring delight !! ....
Deepavali is all this and much more ,the 3 days span of diwali feels too short and you are left wanting for more ! The enormity of this festival is much greater than the scandal list of our politicians ..(now that should really sum it up for you !! :P )
But as I said earlier , there are few things which saves it from the title of 'surreal' and the first one being the POLLUTION those crackers cause .The atom bomb may be much small in size but the effect it has on the surroundings is more or less the same as a real one !Observe carefully and  you can see more crime ,the brutal murder of plants .Go near to the handicapped plant on the road end and maybe it can tell you how it lost its leaves just for the smiles of a bunch of kids who mercilessly and insensitively placed their bombs on its leaves before lighting them ..
Now coming to the second negative part and this i'm sure each and every dog owner/lover agrees with me . SOUND. the non stop rattle and sound that a 1000 wala produces can drive any sane person nuts !!But a human's suffering in this case , is anthill compared to an animals', especially a dog's !!This is maybe the only time of the year when even the bravest dog tries to find peace and sense of security ,curling below a bed . And some of those poor creatures which belong to the weaker lot  of breeds even succumb to death ,this time around the year ,making this festival rather a bad time for them .
And how can we ignore the headlines of the paper which more or less read the same every year that due to negligence or sheer bad luck, people have lost some of their vital organs, making them handicapped for life. The innocence and 5 minutes of fun turning out to be a life long challenge!
Yet, despite all of these, I would tell that Deepavali is undeniably a huge, colourful, larger  than life  and beautiful festival and I still absolutely love it :)
